There is this joy that comes with being able to recite the Quran at full speed. It makes you want to recite the Quran every time. It gets more interesting during the month of Ramadan when you will want to finish reciting the Quran as many times as possible.

Increasing the Quran reading speed requires a lot of effort and practice. Also, you have to recite the Quran almost every time to stand a chance of increasing your Quran reading speed.

In addition to that, you should try to complete the recitation of the Quran frequently, learn Arabic grammar and morphology, and learn how to join the last word of a verse with the beginning of another verse.

7 Tips to Increase Quran Reading Speed Like a Qari

Here are tips by Hidayah Network Quran tutors on how to increase Quran reading speed. Follow us for some other tips.

1. Recite the Quran Every day

This article would be incomplete without this tip. If we give out a hundred tips and we omit this important tip, it means we didn’t do our homework right. But because we did our homework, that is why we have added this important tip.

It is non-negotiable for anyone who wants to increase his or her Quran reading speed to recite the Quran every day. Apart from the huge reward that comes with reciting the Quran every day, it makes some verses stick to the brain permanently.

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

‘’Verily, the parable of the companion of the Quran is that of a tied camel. If he is committed to it, he will keep it. If he releases it, he will lose it.’’

The lesson from this hadith is that anybody who abandons the Quran for days without reciting it, the Quran will leave the person gradually.

In another hadith, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

‘’Keep refreshing your knowledge of the Quran for (I swear) by the one whose hand the soul of Muhammad is, it is more liable to escape from memory than camels does from their hobbles.”

The lesson in this hadith is the same as the first hadith we quoted.

2. Learn Arabic Grammar

Another important knowledge that can improve Quran reading speed is the knowledge of Nahw (Arabic grammar) by following Quran reading rules.

By definition, Nahw is the knowledge that is used to investigate the type of vowel that the last letter of a word will attract.

When you can detect the vowel sound of a letter with the word that precedes it, it will make your recitation faster.

3. Learn How to Join Verses Together

Although it is good to stop at the end of a verse before beginning another verse since we are talking about how to increase reading speed, the knowledge of connecting verses is important.

When you know how to join verses together, your recitation will be faster compared to someone who pauses at the end of each verse.

Also, you should practice how to hold your breath for a long period. It also helps to increase Quran reading speed.

Take for example if you can recite Suratul Fatiha by just stopping twice compared to someone who stops at the end of every verse, who do you think will complete the recitation first.?

4. Complete Quran Recitation in 30 days

Because of the efforts of scholars, the Quran can be read and completed easily. The Quran has been divided into parts that can be spread within thirty days.

This is very easy to achieve. You just have to read ten pages every day to complete this task. You do not need to recite the ten pages at a go; you can split it into two pages after every solat.

5. Concentrate on Hifz

This is also another very important tip to increase the Quran reading speed. When you start memorizing the Quran, it will increase your Quran reading speed.

Let us take Surah Al-Baqarah memorization for example. If you have memorized some portions and some verses, how do you think your recitation will be?

It will be very smooth because you already know what you are reciting. The recitation speed will be unprecedented when you get to the verses and portions that you have already memorized.

6. Learn from a Quran Tutor

Some tutors are specialists in how to teach people how to recite the Quran at full speed; those are the type of tutors you need for tasks like this.

They will teach you everything you need to know on how you can increase your Quran reading speed. They will design customized plans in your Quran recitation classes that are different from a normal Quran recitation plan based on how you can recite the Quran before enrolling.

7. Set a Time Goal

Lastly, you can use your stopwatch to track the time used for reciting a surah. On the first day, check the minutes spent on a surah. Do the same on the next day and subsequent days. With our stopwatch, you will know if you are making progress or not.

Conclusion

The more you can recite the Quran, the better for you. The more you recite the Quran, the more the reward. The people who recite the Quran every day have been promised a great reward by Allah and through the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).

In one hadith, Prophet Muhammad said

“The reciter of the Quran will be told to ascend high in Jannah. The rank will be equal to the last verse he recited while he or she was on earth.”

May Allah make us among the people of the Quran.
