Quran is not an ordinary book that can be opened occasionally and read if one feels like reading. It is a Holy book, revealed centuries ago, with the purpose to guide mankind with the clear distinction between right and wrong. We are supposed to look down upon it when in need or require an answer to any problem. Not only Quran but many authentic hadith also shed light on the importance of learning the Quran, not only in this life but the life hereafter.

Hadith About Learning Quran With References

Let’s have a look at what the following lines are going to tell us. Note them down to keep them in your memory and stay connected to the book of Allah.

1- It Will Save You From Hellfire

The only source of salvation from the hellfire and turbulence of the day of resurrection is to hold tightly onto Quran. The more you read, recite, learn and understand it, the better will be your practical implementation of the commands in your life and you will strive hard to avoid sins that could lead you to hellfire. (May Allah forbids).

Abu Umama said he heard God’s messenger say,

“Recite the Qur’an, for on the day of resurrection it will come as an intercessor for those who recite it. Recite the two shining ones, Baqara and sūra Al Imran. For on the day of resurrection, they will come as two clouds or two shades, or two flocks of birds in ranks* pleading for those who recite them.’’

Not only this but we have also been enlightened through precious hadiths that tell us the importance of reciting Surah Al-Mulk before going to bed, it saves us from the strictness and punishments of the grave.  The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said,

“There is a surah in the Quran which is only thirty verses. It defended whoever recited it until it puts him into paradise” (Tirmidhi).

2- It Gives Meaning To Your Existence

Quran is not simply a collection of old Arabic rhythmic verses that were revealed centuries ago, rather it is here to stay forever without getting changed even a bit. Where the Quran memorization and reading are full of rewards, the importance of understanding mental, physical, and spiritual upheaval can’t be denied. It certainly gives true meaning to your existence. The Prophet SAWW said,

“The best among you (Muslims) are those who learn the Qur’an and teach it.” (Bukhari).

This is what we should be living and striving for, being the best and giving meaning to this life by learning and teaching Quran.

3- It Connects You With The Creator

The more you work with pure intention to understand the words of Allah, the more strong connection you will feel with your creator. Prophet Muhammad SAWW said, Allah says,

‘I am just as My slave thinks I am, (i.e. I am able to do for him what he thinks I can do for him) and I am with him if He remembers Me. If he remembers Me in himself, I too, remember him in Myself; and if he remembers Me in a group of people, I remember him in a group that is better than they; and if he comes one span nearer to Me, I go one cubit nearer to him; and if he comes one cubit nearer to Me, I go a distance of two outstretched arms nearer to him; and if he comes to Me walking, I go to him running.’

This hadith is enough to boost our imaan and love for Allah because this is the only true connection we have.

4- It Tells You That You Don’t Know

Compare yourself to the new you. The one self that knew nothing about Quran and the new self that is acquainted with the creator and loves Him dearly. Quran is important to learn because it educates you and enlightens your mind about so many things that you were never able to know from any other source ever. It tells you about,

  • Life and death
  • Meaning of your existence
  • Your eternal abode
  • Your judgment
  • The History of the World
  • The guidance through the prophet
  • The rewards for the good doers and believers, etc.

5- It Is A Source Of Countless Rewards

Learning Quran not only brings stability in your life but also gives you a feeling of love and affection when it comes to the rewards that are promised for those who read and learn Quran. Our beloved Prophet Muhammad SAWW said,

“If anyone prays at night reciting regularly ten verses, he will not be recorded among the negligent; if anyone prays at night and recites a hundred verses, he will be recorded among those who are obedient to Allah; and if anyone prays at night reciting one thousand verses, he will be recorded among those who receive huge rewards” (Sunan Abu Dawood).
